DIAGNOSTIC TESTING
Once we have determined what service is needed, we will provide a written estimate detailing our findings and the repair costs.
COMPLIMENTARY SERVICES
Brake System Inspection
This service starts with a brief test drive (if it can be done safely), then we put your vehicle on a lift and remove the tires so we can inspect the condition of the pads, rotors and shoes and take measurements. We also check the condition of the brake fluid and hoses.
Computer ODBII Code Scan
When the check engine light turns on, a fault code is registered in your vehicle’s system computer. This fault code gives information about the failure. We will connect a code scanner to your vehicle (1996 and newer) and read the codes. We provide you with both the code and the description for that code. More detail can be here.
Front End Inspection
This service includes a brief test drive, lifting the vehicle and checking tire wear, steering and suspension system components, shocks, struts, tie rod end and steering gear, and other front-end components for excessive wear.
Courtesy Inspection (Visual)
This service includes a brief visual inspection of the engine compartment, control panel indicators, lights and tires. We also check fluids (condition and level) where available
LEVEL 1 SYSTEM TESTS
Coolant System Diagnostic Testing
This service includes verifying operation of the thermostat, water pump, and the cooling fans. We also test the coolant and perform a pressure test and a carbon test.
Evaporative System Diagnostic Testing
This service includes verifying operation of vent valves and purge solenoids and a smoke test of the evaporative system to identify leak location(s). When equipped the gas cap is also tested.
Charging System Diagnostic Testing
We use specialized test equipment to test the battery, alternator for voltage issues. We verify the computer is sending the correct commands to the alternator and test the voltage regulator system. We visually inspect battery cables, posts, and terminal ends.
No Start Test
This service in needed when your engine cranks (turns over) but will not start. It includes testing ignition systems components for proper spark, and fuel delivery.
Computer Code Diagnostic Testing – (per system)
This service includes a test drive, computer scan, researching codes and performing diagnostic tests to determine the root cause of the code. When multiple codes are present, a separate diagnostic testing service is required for each system.
Advanced Oil Leak Diagnostic Testing
This service Includes cleaning and running engine to determine source of oil leaks. As part of the service, we insert ultraviolet dye into the engine oil to facilitate the identification of the leaking component.
LEVEL 2 SYSTEM TESTS
Drivability Diagnostics (Gasoline Engines)
This service includes a test drive, in-depth computer scan, researching codes and testing the various circuits and components identified earlier. Depending on the findings, additional advanced diagnostic time may be required.
Air Bag System Testing
This service provides testing for source of codes in the air bag module causing the air bag light to come on and testing for operation of air bag system.
Electrical System Diagnostic Testing
This service includes researching and testing for electrical system problems such as lighting malfunctions, wiring problems, power outlet sockets, battery going dead overnight, etc.
Starting System Diagnostic Testing
This service includes verifying operation of the starter, correct power feeds and signals, operation of solenoid and ignition switch and determine the cause of any failures identified. Depending on the findings, additional advanced diagnostic time may be required.
ABS Code Testing
This service includes testing for codes in the anti-lock braking system, and traction control system, and testing the system for correct operation.
